Dr. Shirley Cheong 張慧敏牙醫

Dr. Shirley Cheong has over 30 years of experience as a dentist. She graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1988 with First Class Honours. In 1993, she received her certificate from the National Dental Examining Board of Canada and started her private practice in North York, Toronto. After co-founding Yonge & Steeles Dental Care in 2002 along with her husband, Dr. Kenny Chan, they both decided to start ALFIE Dentistry in as a new practice without compromise.

Dr. Shirley is always looking to improve herself, and has been continuously learning new methods of providing the best treatments and care possible. For over 20 years, she has pursued continuing education, and is currently a fellow of both the International College of Cranio-Mandibular Disorders and the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies. She has lectured internationally on neuromuscular approaches and brings her teaching experience to each and every one of her patients. She is also an expert in the novel field of digital dentistry, and has over 15 years of experience in complete smile makeovers and full mouth reconstruction.

Dr. Shirley is a firm believer in personalized dentistry. No two patients are the same to her, and she prides herself on her commitment to providing individualized solutions to the problems that her patients bring to her. She has a warm and caring style of patient interaction, and works together with her patients to achieve their goals based on their preferences. 

In her spare time, Dr. Shirley pursues a wide variety of interests including cooking, woodworking, and Japanese flower arrangement.

Dr. Kenny Chan 陳少堅牙醫

Dr. Kenny is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. His 34 years of experience in the field of dentistry has inspired him to provide his patients with a wide scope of treatment options, refusing to specialize in only one aspect of dentistry.

Dr. Kenny’s choice to practice General Dentistry stems from his desire to provide his patients with a full range of dental services. It is far more difficult to become very proficient in all fields of dentistry than to be a specialist in one. Dr. Kenny has fueled his love of learning with additional dental education to provide his patients with specialist-level procedures. His practice emphasizes open and honest communication with his patients, and regards himself as a guardian of his patients’ lifelong dental health.

Dr. Kenny graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1988 and has been a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons since 1991.  He received his certificate from the National Dental Examining Board of Canada in 1994 and set up his private practice in Markham, Ontario. He co-founded Yonge & Steeles Dental Care in 2002 along with his wife, Dr. Shirley Cheong, and it has established an excellent reputation as one of the top dental practices in Toronto.  In his spare time, he enjoys every moment with his wife, Dr. Shirley, and his son, Derek.  He is a loving family man, and is also an active member in the St. Agnes Tsao Catholic Church serving parishioners.

Dr. Derek Chan

Dr. Derek Chan graduated from New York University earning his Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2019 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2022. After spending 7 years in New York, he decided to return to Toronto to practice dentistry and to bring a new global perspective to ALFIE Dentistry.

Dr. Derek’s insatiable curiosity compels him to continue learning in all aspects of dentistry. He is particularly interested in digital dentistry and the field of aesthetics.

Dr. Derek is committed to providing the best care that he can for his patients. His calming demeanour and communication skills along with his keen eye for detail have made him a favourite in the eyes of his patients.
